The main library (Ville Platte), Turkey Creek Branch, Mamou Branch, and Basile Branch will open at noon on Thursday Jan. 18th and close at 4 p.m.   Pine Prairie Branch, which normally closes at noon on Thursday, will be closed for the day.

All locations that are normally open on Friday will open at 10 a.m. on Friday Jan. 19th and close at their regular closing times.

Fines on overdue items will be waived through the rest of the week.  We are extending “Fine Free” period because of the weather closures this week.  

Due to the weather (it’s actually snowing!) the main library and all branches will stay closed on Wednesday Jan. 17th.  All activities scheduled for Wednesday are cancelled.

In addition, you can get big discounts on existing fines (items already turned in during the year but the fines not yet paid) and other book fees (fees for lost or damaged items). The Library Board approved asking the Police Jury to advertise for bids for construction of a new Chataignier Branch building.  The Police Jury has also approved at its meeting, and advertising for bids has begun.  We are very excited over the prospect of providing better service to the Chataignier area through a new branch library.
