Please come by the library in Ville Platte during working hours to see this marvelous art exhibit produced by students from around the parish in the elementary, middle and high school T.A.G. program. Awards will be given out Tuesday, 4/24/18, at 6 pm on the day that the main library is opened until 8 pm.
This is a reminder that the main library and all branches are closed to the public all day on Wed. April 18th for staff training day at the main library.
Staff will have training sessions on genealogy research, library security, and serving older adults at the library, as well as other topics.

The meeting will be held in the multipurpose room at the main library in Ville Platte.
The guest speaker is Mr. Sidney Bellard who will be talking about his book: A Cajun in France:Journeys to Assimilations: Travel with Pierre on his most unlikely voyages where he encounters the challenges of poverty … distinct cultures—Cajun, American and French. Here’s his bio:
Sidney P. Bellard has recently retired after an educational career of fifty years. He taught the subjects of European History, American History, civics, sociology, geography, English, French, and adult literacy. Administratively, he served as Director of Adult Education in St. Bernard Parish, and Vice Principal and counselor in a private school. Additionally, he served on state and national adult literacy boards and presented at state and national conventions on the topics of teaching problem adolescents and convention planning. His hobbies include reading, travel, writing, physical fitness, cycling, gardening, genealogy, cooking, and stained glass projects. Sidney now resides in Mandeville, La.
