Sunday March 13th the Basile Branch Library will be open for special videotaping of residents’ memories of life in Basile. This is a part of Basile’s 100th anniversary celebration this Sunday.
Update, Monday, March 14th: The Basile celebration was a great success! Special thanks to Sherry Bergeron, Branch Manager, and Becky Leger, Branch Assistant Manager, for working at the Basile Branch during the celebration. Also, very special thanks to former Library Board Member Elaine Deshotels, who coordinated the event for the town of Basile and who did the videotaped interviews with Basile residents throughout the day at the library. Saturday morning March 12, meet representatives of LSUA at the main library (Ville Platte). You can speak to representatives about prior college work, returning to college, costs of college, and more. These sessions are designed for adults who wish to return to college or enroll in college for the first time.
The Evangeline Parish main library and all branches will be closed Tues., March 8th for Mardi Gras. We wish everybody a safe and happy Mardi Gras.
The Louisiana Library Association will meet Wed. March 16 through Friday March 18 at the Cajundome in Lafayette. The Evangeline Parish Library will be participating.
The Acadiana Arts Council will hold a grant workshop at the main library (Ville Platte) on Wednesday, March 23rd, at 10:30 am. The public is invited to attend. Learn more about how grants are determined and administered.
