The Main Library and all branches will be closed for the 4th of July holiday Thursday July 4th through Sunday July 7th.  The Main Library and branches will reopen at their regularly scheduled times and dates the next week.  The governor has declared  Friday July 5th a State holiday this year, and the parish is also closing for the holiday.  We wish everybody a happy and safe holiday in celebration of the founding of our nation.

CenturyLink  through its Internet Basics Program is donating a special prize for the top reader (most books read during Summer Reading) in ages 8 through 16!  As soon as we receive the prize, we will post what it is.

Children, tweens, and teens ages 8 through 16 throughout the parish are eligible to compete.  There is only ONE of the prize, and in the event of a tie, the winner will be selected from a drawing.

The cutoff date for books to count is close of business July 19th.  
Winner will be notified between July 20th and July 24th.  The prize will be awarded to the winner at a special ceremony at the main library on July 25th at 2 p.m.  Refreshments will be served.
Please note that this is a special CenturyLink provided prize for ONE reader in ages 8 through 16 only.

CenturyLink Internet Basics Program will also sponsor a training session on How to Find Books Online at the main library on Tues. Aug. 6th at 6 p.m.  Refreshments will be served.  In addition, participants will receive information about the Internet Basics Program, which offers discounted Internet services to qualifying low-income individuals and families.  To find out more about the Internet Basics Program, please visit www.centurylink.com/internetbasics.

The winning tickets were drawn on the “J.C. and Randy” show on KVPI Tues. June 4th.  Thank you so much, KVPI, for sponsoring the drawing on the radio!

Gus Orlando of Bayou Chicot was the winner of the Cajun bateau filled with special items, including Gene Buller’s wonderful, “Bucks, Ducks, and Doves.”

Betsey Duplechain of Vidrine was the winner of the fabulous Yeti cooler.

Faye Langley of Eunice/Basile was the winner of the Paragon get away weekend with lodging, meal, and golf.

All winners can pick up their prizes at the main library in Ville Platte.

Special thanks to all who participated!  The Friends of the Library sold over 500 tickets and raised over $5,000 for furniture for the new main library.  Special thanks to Paula Lafleur and Linda Lebsack who coordinated the raffle.

The Friends of the Library will hold their raffle drawing LIVE on the J.C. and Randy Show on KVPI Tues. June 4th between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.  Don’t miss it.  If anybody still wants to buy a ticket, do so no later than Monday June 3rd!

The tickets are $10 each, provide chances at THREE great prizes, and are for a great cause.  All proceeds will be used to help fund extra special furniture for the public areas of the new main library.
