- Consideration of naming Emily Fontenot as Branch Manager and Suzy Lemoine as Assistant Branch Manager of the Ville Platte Main library continuing the Team Director concept with Wesley Saunders continuing to serve as Assistant Director for the next 6 months. This model assures that every library has a Manager and Assistant in place with one Assistant Director to oversee system operations.
- Acknowledgement of the purchase of a new 8’ utility trailer to service the needs of all locations
- Cancellation of the “Flipster” online magazine subscription (found on our webpage) due to lack of usage. Savings: $3,100.

The library Board of Control and the staff send warm wishes to our patrons from all around the parish for a safe, healthy and memorable New Year’s Celebration! We welcome 2023 with lots of plans already in the works! The main library and all branches will be closed on Monday, 1/2/202, to ring in the New Year! Normal schedules resume on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.
The library Board of Control will meet on Monday, January 9, 2023 for their first meeting of the New Year at noon in the multipurpose room of the main library in Ville Platte. The public is invited to attend.
A brand new FREE service for our compute-challenged patrons will begin on Monday, January 9, 2023 with Tobin Deville, a Microsoft Certified Instructor. The tutoring will focus on software, settings, Windows operating systems, cleaning up computers, uninstalling bad applications, or speeding up browsers on the device or devices you bring in (laptop, Smart Phones, EReader tablets, etc). If you need this type of assistance make an appointment at any of the following locations: Chataignier branch library @ 9 – 10 am; Basile branch library @10:30 -11:30 am; Mamou branch library @ 12 – 1:00 pm; Pine Prairie branch library @ 1:30 – 2:30 pm; Turkey Creek branch library @ 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.; and Ville Platte main library @ 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm. Call your library of choice to book your appointment today! Walk-ins are welcome based on availability. We plan on providing this service one day a month at all of the libraries around the parish. January is our trial month so please get the word out.

All libraries will be open for business on Wednesday & Thursday (12/28 & 29) then closed on Friday & Saturday (12/ 30 & 31) and Monday, 1/2/2023 to ring in the New Year! Fine Free month ends on 12/31/22 at the main library and all branches. Before then return any item in good condition to the main library or any branch and have all fines on the item (s). We will also take 50% off existing fines and charges for lost/damaged items if the balance is paid in full during this period. Please share.
