Congratulations to Jennifer Vidrine, Mayor of Ville Platte and Vice President of the Library Board of Control! Jennifer is a delegate at the Democratic National Convention.
A public hearing will be held on Wed. Sept. 19 from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the main library (242 W. Main St., Ville Platte). Public input is strongly encouraged. The hearing is to elicit public review and comments on draft Internet Safety and Social Media policies and on a draft Sexual Offenders in Public Library Facilities policy.
The Library Board of Control will meet at 4 p.m. Wed. Sept. 19 at the main library immediately following the public hearing. Everybody is welcome, and public comments are encouraged. Refreshments will be served. A full agenda for the meeting will be posted at the main library no later than Tues. morning Sept. 18.
The Friends of the Library will meet Tues. Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. at the Main Library (242 W. Main St., Ville Platte). Everybody is welcome, and refreshments will be served. Our special guest will be parish police jury president Bryan Vidrine.
The main library and branch libraries will be open their regularly scheduled hours on Friday Aug. 31st. We look forward to seeing our patrons again after Hurricane/Tropical Storm Isaac and hope that you all had no damage during the storm.
Any items that were due in during our closed period will have all fines waived if you return them Friday.
The library will be closed for the Labor Day weekend Sat. through Monday, Sept. 3rd. We hope you all will have a great Labor Day weekend with lots of sunshine!
