The Mystery Book Club will meet on Wed. June 27th at 10:30 a.m. at the main library.  Everybody is welcome.  The book for the month is “The Strong Poison” by Dorothy Sayers.

Summer Reading programs continue today with Theatre Acadie at the Mamou Teen Center at 2 p.m.  This event is free to the public.  Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Summer Reading Programs continue with Theatre Acadie in Chataignier at 3 p.m.  If the new Chataignier Branch is not yet available, the performance will be held at the Village Hall.  This event is free to the public.  Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

A public hearing will be held at the Mamou Branch Library on Tuesday July 24th at 11:30 am to obtain public comments on the proposed amendment of the Library’s operating budget.  This amendment addresses needed changes to the budget due to the Chataignier Branch Library construction project.

The Library Board of Control will meet Tues. July 24th at 12 noon at the Mamou Branch Library.  The meeting is open to the public, and public comments are welcomed.  An agenda will be posted no later than 24 hours before the meeting.  Please note that this meeting will be immediately preceded by a public hearing to get public comments on revision of the Library’s operating budget.

August is “Fine Free” Month at all locations.

The main library is closed (no Saturday hours) for the Labor Day weekend Sept. 1st through 3rd.

KVPI will be live from 2 – 4 pm. The ribbon cutting is slated for 2:30 pm. Refreshments will be served.

The Library Board of Control will meet on MONDAY Dec. 10th at the main library at 12 pm.  This is the annual budget meeting as well as the meeting to set the calendar for the next year.  The meeting is open to the public, and public comments are welcome.  A full agenda will be posted no later than 24 hours before the meeting.

The main library and all branches are closed Sat. Dec. 22nd through Wed. Dec. 26th for Christmas break.  We wish everybody a very merry Christmas.

The main library and all branches are closed for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Sat. Dec. 29th through Tuesday Jan. 1, 2019.  We wish everybody a very happy and safe New Year’s weekend.  Thank you for your support throughout 2018.  We hope you will visit your library often in 2019.

We’ve heard from many adults who speak local French that they would like to have a place to gather to speak French while visiting. So, we are offering an opportunity for folks to join Mrs. Jackie Miller at 3:30 pm on Monday afternoons in the Multipurpose Room at the Main library in Ville Platte for an Allons parler en français experience!
