Early Notice: The Library Board of Control will meet on Monday, September 11th @ 4 pm at the main library in Ville Platte. An agenda will be posted. The public is invited to attend.
Happy Labor Day to all of our patrons around the parish from your Library Board of Control and library staff! Enjoy your day! The main library and all branches will be closed tomorrow, Monday, September 4, 2023. We will resume our normal operating hours Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
Our Artist of the Month for the month of September at the main library is Pamela Fruge Bertrand. Pam grew up in Ville Platte and started drawing in 3rd grade. Her love of drawing offered her the opportunity to study under Waven Boone, Michael Bordelon and Mrs. Gertie Mayeax.
Speaking of Mrs. Gertie Mayeaux, I am reminded of the approaching Tournoi event (10/15/23) about which she painted a marvelous rendition of “a Knight riding on a horse with his lance poised to spear the rings that symbolize the seven enemies of cotton: flood, drought, boll weevils, boll worm, silk, rayon and nylon”! We invite you to stop by the main library to see her art which on display by the Memory Catalog.

If you or someone you know would like to get their art displayed, please contact Suzy Lemoine @ [email protected] or call the main library at 337-363-1369. This week will be the last time to come by the main libraryto see the unique art created by kids with the EAC and the unusual works by Phil Miller using reclaimed wood that is indigenous to our area like Cedar, Chinese Tallow (Chicken Trees), China ball, and Eucalyptus. He really excels in reclaiming wood affected by Carpenter Bees! See samples of his coasters & photos of his custom photo frames on display at the main library in Ville Platte.
