Mr. Bill Guidry was police jury president and a member of the library board for several years. He was a strong supporter of the library and a good friend to all of us at the main library and the branches. His backgrounds in law enforcement, environmental science, and human resource management helped the library make significant improvements in branch security, main library mold remediation, and system personnel policies. His support after hurricanes Katrina and Rita was outstanding, and he was also instrumental in the building of the Turkey Creek branch library, the remodeling of the Mamou and Basile branches, and the expansion of the Pine Prairie branch. Mr. Bill negotiated for the purchase of land for the future main library and helped the library acquire a nearly new van for deliveries. He helped us all here in so many ways. The library board and library staff send their deepest sympathy to his widow Mona and his children, grandchildren, and other family members.
Mr. Bill’s obituary and funeral arrangements are posted on the Laville Funeral Home website.
The Main Library (Ville Platte) and all branch libraries will be closed Tuesday, Feb. 21st for Mardi Gras. In addition, the Mamou Branch Library will be closed Monday Feb. 20th.
We wish everybody a safe and happy Mardi Gras!
The Friends of the Library will meet Tuesday, Feb. 7th at 6 p.m. at the main library (Ville Platte). Everybody is welcome; please come and bring a friend.
