Tammy and Frank Chaisson, Balloon Twisters and Face Painters, perform at all the library locations this week! On Tuesday June 26th they will be at Turkey Creek at 10 a.m. and Ville Platte at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.; on Wed. the 27th at Pine Prairie at 10 a.m. and the Mamou Teen Center at 2 p.m.; and Thurs. the 28th at Basile at 10 a.m. and Chataignier Village Hall at 3 p.m. All performances are FREE to the public and are funded in part through Decentralized Arts Funding as administered by the Acadiana Center for the Arts. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
A special Policy and Procedure Committee will meet first at 1 p.m. A Building and Grounds Committee will meet immediately following the conclusion of the Policy and Procedure working meeting. Agenda for each session is as follows:
1) Policy and Procedure: to review current policies/procedures and make recommendations for changes.
2) Building and Grounds: To prepare for next steps in main library projects and Pine Prairie branch projects.
These are working sessions. The public is invited to attend and to give comments. Refreshments will be served.

Our Summer Performing Series continues this week with Sylvia Yancy Davis, Storyteller. Ms. Davis performs Tues. June 19th at 10 a.m. at Turkey Creek Branch and 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the main library (Ville Platte). She performs Wed. the 20th at 10 a.m. at Pine Prairie Branch and 2 p.m. at the Mamou Teen Center. She performs Thurs. the 21st at 10 a.m. at Basile Branch and 3 p.m. at the Chataignier Village Hall. All performances are FREE to the public. Summer Reading fun continues June 12, 13, and 14 with Manager’s Choice programs! On Tues. June 12th at 10 a.m. Turkey Creek branch will have local beauty queens from ages 6 and up as special guests and also feature practice voting for kids with Registrar of Voters Lucas Buller and his staff. At Ville Platte on Tues. the 12th at 2 and 6 p.m., there will be crafts and fun with the LSU Ag Center. On Wed. the 13th, practice voting for kids will be at Pine Prairie at 10 a.m. and Mamou at 2 p.m. On Thurs. the 14th Basile will feature local beauty queens and “dream catcher” craft at 10 a.m., and Chataignier will have a special craft at 3 p.m. Come join the fun throughout the parish. All events are FREE.

The Library’s Summer Performing Series begins with Jerie Ford, a former soloist with the Baton Rouge Symphony chorus and vocalist with the Buddy Lee Orchestra. Ms. Ford will perform the mini-musical, “The Topsy Turvy Funny, Fantabulous, Wonderful World of Feelings” Tues. June 5th at Turkey Creek Branch at 10 and at the Main Library (Ville Platte) at 2 and 6; Wed. June 6th at Pine Prairie Branch at 10 and at the Mamou Teen Center at 2, and Thurs. June 7th at Basile Branch at 10 and Chataignier Village Hall at 3.
