Thank you to everybody who attended the groundbreaking this morning (Tues. Aug. 14, 2012) for the new main library in Ville Platte! We had great attendance and support from the Police Jury, Library Board of Control, City of Ville Platte, Library Staff, Friends of the Library, Food for Thought Book Club, Evangeline Genealogical and Historical Society, Chamber of Commerce, Ville Platte Rotary Club and other organizations, local banks, and many folks from the community! Thank you all so much!
We especially thank Ronnie Landreneau of Landreneau & Associates, Brodie Ardoin of Ardoin Architecture, Troy Frick and Nicholas Rodriquez of Troy A. Frick (building contractor), Nancy Duplechain of KVPI, the KATC film crew, Steve Hallam of the Ville Platte Gazette, Bobby Dardeau of the Bonnes Nouvelle, and last but not least our wonderful local photographer Mable Foreman.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new main library will be held Tues. Aug. 14 at 10 am at the construction site (old hospital property in Ville Platte, across from Citizens Bank and Mikey’s Donuts).
The Main Library and the branch libraries will be closed to the public on Tues. morning Aug. 14th due to the groundbreaking ceremony at the site of the future main library.
The Main Library (Ville Platte) will reopen at noon. Mamou, Basile, and Turkey Creek will reopen at 1. Pine Prairie will be closed at least part of the morning and possibly all morning. Chataignier will open at its regular time in the afternoon.
The Friends of the Library will meet Tues. Aug. 14 at 6 pm at the main library. Everybody is welcome. Please come and bring a friend!
