The Library welcomes Families Helping Families, a great resource for families with a family member with special needs. Everybody is welcome to attend the Families Helping Families meeting Thursday Sept. 12th at 9:30 at the Main Library.
The Library system will be closed Sat. Aug. 31st through Monday Sept. 2, reopening Tues. Sept. 3rd. We wish everybody a happy and safe Labor Day weekend.
Last night the Friends of the Library presented the library with a check for $15,519.60 toward furnishings for the new library, and CenturyLink presented a check for $1,000 for technology toward the new library.
Library Board President/Ville Platte Mayor Jennifer Vidrine was at the meeting to accept the donations on behalf of the library from Friends representative Paula Lafleur and CenturyLink representative Andrew Dugas.
The Friends check represents the fundraising efforts of the Friends in person and through Indiegogo and Wish List and the recent Paragon Casino prized-raffle. The Library Board and staff are in awe of the Friends’ efforts, and deeply grateful.
We are also deeply grateful for our partnership with CenturyLink to help enhance technology for patrons at the new building and to provide more training to patrons in the essential new technologies at the main library and branches.
Be one of the very first to purchase a granite memorial paver that will be on display near the front entrance of the future main library!
Pavers are 4 inches by 8 inches and can accommodate up to 12 letters/spaces per line, up to 3 lines per paver. Each paver is $100. Larger pavers can be purchased at additional cost.
This is a very special new project of the Friends of the Library, with proceeds going to support furnishings for the new building. It is a great way to recognize loved ones and leave a lasting impression in this community!
