Basile Library is open 8 to 5 today and tomorrow (closed Saturdays and Sundays).  Sherry and Becky there will be happy to give guest passes for the computers to anybody from the neighboring parishes who needs to come in and do FEMA applications, etc. and cannot get to the FEMA disaster site in their parish.

The FEMA site for Evangeline Parish is the North Side Civic Center in Ville Platte, and the library system is supporting FEMA and emergency food stamp application operations there for Evangeline Parish residents.  Yesterday main library equipment and staff were used at the Civic Center.  They, along with all the staff and volunteers from Ville Platte city government and other agencies working so tirelessly there, helped residents prepare more than 100 applications.

People from Evangeline and other parishes are also welcome to come use patron computers at any of our library locations.  Please check for the branch nearest you.  A generous guest pass policy is in effect for anybody needing to do disaster-related applications.

Due to the recent severe weather and flooding, the Evangeline Parish main library (Ville Platte) and all branch libraries will remain closed on Monday August 15th.  If road conditions permit, staff will be going to each location to assess issues with facilities and equipment, in preparation to hopefully reopen at the regular time on Tuesday.  Thank you all for your cooperation.  Please stay safe.
