Thank you to the folks who recently donated yearbooks that we are missing for our digitation project: Vina S. Bridge and Nancy K. Shannon, Judith Ardoin, and Bernella Meche. We are so grateful for the loan! As soon as we have a box full and they are digitized, rest assured that your book will be returned!
We love starting our week off with our Monday afternoon conversational French program, “Allons Parler en Français. It is a free program on Monda afternoons at 3:30 pm at the main library. The free coffee is always hot, too!
Ms. Pat’s Mother Goose Tuesday and Thursday “Storytime with Crafts” continue @ 3:30 pm for ages 2-15. Her programs will be in either the Children’s Room or Multipurpose room.
Our Wednesday “Books & Beyond” program with Tina Davis for our pre-teen / teens, will meet at 3:30 pm 5:30. New members are always welcomed.
Early Notices and Updates: September 24, 2019 @ 5:30 pm is when our 5-week FINANCIAL EDUCATION BOOT CAMP begins. This event is FREE to the public but registration is required. September 17 is designated as Constitution Day and Citizenship Day to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution in Philadelphia on September 17, 1787. Congressman Mike Johnson generously provided pocket copies of the Constitution of the United States. They can be picked up at the main library in Ville Platte.

We just received the digitized DVD’s along with the original yearbooks and we are thrilled with the results! Now we can offer patrons the ability to view yearbook pages online in the Main library or Mamou Branch library and print out particular pages. Drop by for details. We want to continue this project and are in need of MORE parish high school yearbooks. Here’s the list of schools and years that are digitized now. If you have a yearbook that is not listed, please consider loaning it to us to have it digitized then returned to you. BAYOU CHICOT YRS: 1956 & 1985. MAMOU HIGH YRS: 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1954, 1958, 1961, 1964, 1978, 1980, 1982 & 2010. PINE PRAIRIE HIGH YRS: 2002 & 2010. SACRED HEART HIGH YRS: 1977 & 1979. Tuesday, September 24th , the Main library will partner with State Bank to offer our SECOND full 5-week Financial Literacy Camp. This event is FREE to the public but registration is required. The NEW dates are September 24 and Oct. 1, 8, 15 & 22, 2019 @ 5:30 pm. BOOKFEST update: We are bringing in an ANTIQUE ROAD SHOW opportunity to our patrons! Antique Appraiser Michael Wynne will be valuing your collectibles! Details will follow. Please get the word out that anyone looking to promote or sell their goods are invited to participate. Deadline to get a spot is October 15th.
