We are closed for Christmas holidays Friday Dec. 23rd through Tuesday Dec. 27th. We will reopen to the public at 8 a.m. on Wed. Dec. 28th.
The Library system will be closed for New Year’s holidays Dec. 30th through Jan. 2nd, reopening Jan. 3rd.
In addition to our popular Ebooks and E audios in the Overdrive collection, there are now special Ebooks and E audios in other collections through the Louisiana Library Connection. These are collections that will be great for school assignments and for nonfiction reading. To learn more about them, call 363-1369, or click on the “Louisiana Library Connection” button at the bottom of this page and scroll down to the Britannica eBooks, the Credo Reference, Ebsco Host (eBooks and eAudios) and the Gale Virtual Reference Library.
You can check out up to 5 items at a time from the Ebsco Host eBooks and eAudios without affecting your checkouts from our Overdrive and regular collections. You can choose to check the items out for from 1 to 14 days. For more information, please call 363-1369.
These new collections are offered through the State Library of Louisiana.
The Library Board of Control will holds its December budget and other business meeting today, Monday December 19, at 4 p.m. at the main library. An agenda is posted. The meeting is open to the public, and refreshments will be served. Public comments are welcomed. Come and learn more about your library!
Somebody donated a taxidermied fox and coyote to the main library. Now we would like to name them as mascots for the library. Do you have suggestions? Submit your suggestions by close of business Dec. 21st. If you are the first to submit a name or names selected, then you will win a small prize. Be sure to include your name and phone number with your submission, and write the date on your submission slip. Submission slips are available at the main library, but you can also enter by phoning 363-1369 or by emailing [email protected].
Thank you for helping us to name our new critters.
Fine “free” month begins Dec. 15, 2011, and ends Jan. 17, 2012. Take advantage of this great opportunity to get your library account clear and save money!
Fines will be waived on all items returned in good condition during this period. In addition, you can get big discounts on existing fines (items already turned in during the year but the fines not yet paid) and other book fees (fees for lost or damaged items).
Some restrictions apply. To receive a discount on an existing fine, the discounted amount must be paid in one payment during the period Dec. 15 through Jan. 17 (partial payments not accepted if you are receiving the discount). We are offering 50% discounts on existing fines on adult materials and, to help children use the library, 90% discounts on existing fines on children’s materials. These are items that have an “x” or “xF” on the spine label. This is the first time that we have offered a larger discount on the children’s materials, and this discount will be available regardless of whether the children’s items were checked out on an adult or a child’s card.
For lost or damaged items the discount is 50% of the cost of the item, regardless of whether it is an adult or a children’s item.
Please note that these discounts are in effect Dec. 15, 2011, through Jan. 17, 2012 only. For more information, please call 363-1369. Thank you.
