The Friends of the Library are seeking more donations of books in good condition for their big annual book sale at the Family Book and Culture Fest at the Northside Civic Center in Ville Platte.

Books are needed by Friday, Oct. 7.  The sale is Sat. Oct. 8 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

To donate books, please bring books to the main library in Ville Platte or to any of the library branches before Friday Oct. 7.  For more information or to volunteer to help with Book Fest, please call 363-1369.  Thank you for your donations and help.

The  local National Guard detachment of the 1086th Transportation Company will pass by the Main Library sometime around 2:30 p.m. on Thurs. Sept. 8, as they depart for their next deployment overseas.  Anybody who is available is invited to come stand on the steps and show support.

The Main Library will stay open for business, but there may be some service delays.  All branches will stay open as usual.

The State Bond Commission has given approval for the Police Jury to borrow up to 1.5 million on the Library’s behalf, for construction of the new main library.  This is NOT a grant: The Library will repay the bonds out of proceeds from its tax revenues.

The Library Board of Control thanks bond counsel Sen. Eric Lafleur, the Evangeline Parish Police Jury, and parish engineer Ronnie Landreneau for all their efforts to make this possible.
