If you haven’t experienced this petting zoo yet, you’re in for a real treat!  The Bar None staff bring a wide assortment of wonderful animals for adults and kids to enjoy.  You may wind up feeding a baby goat, or holding a hedgehog, or petting a lizard on your shoulder!  You never know what you will find with the Bar None!  Come out to the Grand Pavilion at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22nd, and see for yourself how much fun all ages can have with a very family-friendly petting zoo.  Admission is FREE.

The Evangeline Parish Library Board of Control meeting, originally scheduled for Monday July 21st, has been rescheduled for Monday July 28th.  The meeting is at 4 p.m. on the 28th at the current main library (242 W. Main St., Ville Platte).  An agenda will be posted at the main library no later than Thurs. July 24th.

The meeting is open to the public, and public attendance and comments are welcomed and encouraged.  Refreshments will be served.

July 15 through 17 the Library will feature Managers’ Programs.  On Tues. July 15 at 10 a.m. Turkey Creek Branch will have Chantel Johnson with Soil and Conservation presenting a demonstration.  At 2 p.m. the Main Library (Ville Platte) will feature a craft activity and Emily Mixon with the Growing Up Fit Program.  At 6 p.m. the Main Library will have another craft activity.

On Wed. July 16th at 10 a.m. the Pine Prairie Branch will have Chantel Johnson with Soil and Conservation presenting a demonstration.  At 2 p.m. the Mamou Branch will have a special craft, peanut butter pine cones.

On Thurs. July 17th at 10 a.m. the Basile Branch will feature local beauty queens reading to the audience, plus a craft activity.  At 3 p.m. the Chataignier Branch will have craft and storytime.

All activities are FREE.  Everybody is welcome to attend.  Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Matthew Noel, professional yo yo artist, performs this week!  Events are as follows: Tuesday July 8 at Turkey Creek Library at 10 a.m. and at Ville Platte Northside Civic Center at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.; Wednesday July 9th at Pine Prairie Library at 10 a.m. and at Mamou Teen Center at 2 p.m.; Thursday July 10th at Basile Library at 10 a.m. and Chataignier Village Hall at 3 p.m.

In honor of Matthew’s performance, the Library, with funding assistance from the Friends of the Library, added yo yos to the available prizes in the treasure chests at each library branch and the main library.  They are available while supplies last.  To get one, complete your 10 book reading log and turn it in at the branch where you are registered.
