Tuesday, 4/2/2019, our new “First Tuesday Game Night” program will begin @ 5pm for all ages! We also have a variety of games available for play that same night from 6 – 7:30 pm. This is a new program that will occur on the first Tuesday of each month (except in June & July when we have summer reading performers at the Main library) and it is all about games. We are especially interested in starting a Chess Game group. Please come by and check us out!
Wednesday, 4/3/2019, our pre-teen/ teen (8-16) Just Craftin Around program facilitated by Tina Davis will offer a program about creating Easter Paintings at 4 – 5 pm. New members are always welcomed!
Thursday, 4/4/19, the Library Board of Control will meet at the Mamou Branch Library at noon. The agenda is posted on our website and at all libraries. The public is invited to attend.
Thursday, 4/4/2019, the Basile Branch library will host an Easter Egg Hunt at 10 am. The public is invited!
Saturday, April 6th @ 8:30 am, the Evangeline Genealogical & Historical Society will host its first genealogy workshop for parents, grandparents and children (ages 8-13) called “Ask Granny”. Door prizes will be given, refreshments will be served and the workshop is free! We are asking for folks to call or come by the library to register for planning purposes. This workshop is funded by memorial donations from friends of the late Jacky Vidrine who always wanted to spark an interest in the young about discovering their “family tree”!

Good news to share! To promote our new “First Tuesday Game Night” program, we will be hosting a Bingo Game on 4/2/19 @ 5 pm for all ages! We will also have a variety of games available for play that same night from 6 – 7:30 pm. Tuesday and Thursday’s our children’s programs with Pat Savoy’s Mother Goose Storytime with Crafts or movies at 3:30 pm (for ages 2 – 11).
Tuesday Crocheting (when Ms. Pat Fontenot is available) @ 5pm. (This is a drop in class offered by a volunteer and may not occur every week. See Suzy Lemoine for details)
Wednesday, March 27, our Books & Beyond Book Club pre-teen/teen club (8-16) will meet at 4 pm in the Multipurpose Room at the main library with facilitator Tina Davis to choose a new book! New members are welcomed to attend.
Early Summer Reading support thank you to the FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY who just booked a really cool traveling exotic animal petting zoo, Schoolhouse Safari, for June 18, 19 & 20th! They will be shown in our Summer Reading Calendar of Events once it is completed with logos from our sponsors. We will be showing the new Peter Rabbit movie. It is adorable and perfect for the season. This event is free to the public and space is limited.

Our afternoon programs for children are changing just a bit. Our Monday afternoon “Fun with French” and Tuesday “Divine Teen Club” will be put on hold as we reorganize each program. We are already gearing up for Summer Reading! The theme this year is “A Universe of Stories” and our grant funded performers are Porta Puppets traveling puppet troupe, Storyteller & singer Daphne Thomas, and Geebo the Clown! Keep an eye on our website for updates in May.
