The Evangeline Parish Library will be closed Saturday August 30th through Monday September 1st for the Labor Day weekend.

The main library will be closed Thursday Sept. 4th through Sunday Sept. 21st for relocation.  Branch libraries will remain open.

The new main library will have a formal grand opening/dedication ceremony from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday Sept. 26th.  This will include a special flag-raising ceremony.

Everybody is very welcome.

The Friends of the Library will sponsor a special “Family and Friends” morning at the new main library, 8 a.m. to noon Saturday Sept. 27th.  Everybody is invited!

A lawyer will be at the main library in the multipurpose room to answer questions.  This is a part of the “Lawyers in Libraries” outreach throughout the state on Oct. 23rd.

Mamou Branch is having a coloring contest for kids!  Come in the library and color a picture there before 5 p.m. on Thursday Oct. 30th.  Winners will be announced Friday the 31st at 3 p.m.  You do not need to be present to win.

Local author Nancy Duplechin will discuss the process of EPublishing in this workshop, part of the Library’s “Talented Tuesdays” program.  Nancy has a background in radio also and is a wonderful speaker.  Come learn more about how to write and publish in today’s rapidly changing publishing environment.

Tonight’s “Talented Tuesday” presentation from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. is “Quilting Class” with Stacie Ardoin.  Everybody is welcome, and admission is free.  Come learn more about quilting!

The Library Board of Control meeting originally scheduled for Monday Nov. 17th has been rescheduled for Monday Nov. 24th at 4 p.m. at the main library.

Library “fine free” month is Dec. 15, 2014, through Jan. 15, 2015.  Return any items in good condition, and have all fines and fees on the items waived.

The Friends of the Evangeline Parish Library will hold their first meeting of 2015 on Tues. Jan. 20th at 5:30 p.m. at the new main library (916 W. Main St., Ville Platte).  Everybody is invited.  Come and bring a friend!

The Evangeline Parish Library Board of Control will meet Tues. Jan. 27th at 4 p.m. at the new main library (916 W. Main St., Ville Platte, LA 70586).  The meeting is open to everybody, and public attendance and comments are welcome and encouraged.  An agenda will be posted at the library no later than Monday Jan. 26th.

Beginning Sat. Feb. 7, the Friends of the Library will host a two-week “Sweet Deal” sale for used books, paperbacks, and more.  Paperbacks are 5 cents each, and hardbacks 25 cents.  There will also be magazines, music CDs and some VHS tapes.  The main sale location is the main library in Ville Platte.  Sale will be open in the multipurpose room and at the Friends corner.  The multipurpose room portion of the sale will be closed for approximately one hour during scheduled children’s programming in the room.

The “Sweet Deal” sale at the main library ends at noon today.

The Main Library and all branches will be closed Monday Feb. 23rd and Tues. Feb. 24th due to weather.
