The Library Board of Control will meet Tuesday December 15th at 4 p.m. at the Mamou Branch Library. The meeting is open to the public. This meeting is a rescheduling of the Nov. 17th meeting, which was canceled due to very bad weather.
The Mamou Branch Library at 2 p.m. on Dec. 22nd will sponsor a story hour and craft time at the library. If anyone is interested in donating cupcakes, etc. please contact the Mamou Branch Library. Holiday Safari is coming! Animal Tales will be at the main library (916 W. Main St., Ville Platte) on Dec. 22nd at 4 p.m. Six surprise guest animals from all over the world will provide participants an up close and personal experience through volunteer interactions and crowd participation. Admission is free. Come join us!

Welcome to the first “Crafting Tuesday” of 2016! The program is at 6 p.m. Jan. 5th in the multipurpose room of the main library (Ville Platte). Tonight’s project is a “No Sew T Shirt Tote Bag.” Please bring your own T shirt. Coordinator for the project is Suzy Lemoine.
The Evangeline Parish Genealogical and Historical Society will meet Saturday January 16th at 9:30 a.m. in the main library multipurpose room. Everybody is invited.
Retired kindergarten teacher and library staff member, Ms. Patrola Savoy, will be giving story hours for young children at 3:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the main library. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Miss Pat, aka “Mother Goose,” will also be available in the children’s section throughout the day on Tuesdays and Thursdays to read stories to children and help them find and select books to checkout. The Friends of the Library will hold a meeting on Tues. Jan. 19th at 5:30 pm at the main library. They will elect officers for the new year. Everybody is invited.

The Mystery Book Club will meet Wednesday January 27th at 10:30 a.m. in the multipurpose room of the main library (Ville Platte). This month’s book selection is “I Heard That Song Before” by Mary Higgins Clark. The club welcomes new members; please come and join in the discussion.
Join Library Board member Ms. Faye Langley and the staff of the Basile Branch for young children’s story hour on Thurs. Jan. 28th at 10 a.m. Children must be accompanied by adults. For more information about story hour, please call the Basile Branch.
Due to the severe weather projected for our area from mid day to mid afternoon, Chataignier branch of the library will not open. This branch is normally open from 2 to 5 weekdays. We expect to be open at the regular time on Wednesday.
Due to the likelihood of heavier rain tomorrow, all children’s programs in the library system for Thursday March 10th have been cancelled.

Our “Crafty Tuesdays” continue every Tuesday evening at the main library in Ville Platte at 6 p.m. Join Outreach Coordinator Suzy Lemoine for a fun 90 minutes of crafts and surprises. The program is open to adults and teens.
The Evangeline Genealogical and Historical Society will meet Saturday April 16 at 9:30 am in the multipurpose room of the main library in Ville Platte. The public is invited to hear their guest speakers, John Ledoux and Margaret Briley, who will talk about the Orphan Train Museum and share some of the stories about the children who arrived in Evangeline Parish.
The book that will be discussed is “Body Double” by Tess Gerritsen. Everybody is welcome to come join us in the multipurpose room of the main library in Ville Platte. The meeting was rescheduled due to a conflict with the All-Staff Training Day which will be held the next week.

Join the children’s program at the Basile Branch every other Thursday at 10 a.m. The program for April 21st is “Caterpillars and Butterflies”!
