Mamou Branch is having a coloring contest for kids! Come in the library and color a picture there before 5 p.m. on Thursday Oct. 30th. Winners will be announced Friday the 31st at 3 p.m. You do not need to be present to win.
Local author Nancy Duplechin will discuss the process of EPublishing in this workshop, part of the Library’s “Talented Tuesdays” program. This is a special two-hour class where the students get special help with whatever issues they are encountering (but the instructor will NOT repair hardware, so don’t bring your malfunctioning device for diagnostics). The Evangeline Parish Library Board of Control will meet Tues. Jan. 27th at 4 p.m. at the new main library (916 W. Main St., Ville Platte, LA 70586). Beginning Sat. Feb. 7, the Friends of the Library will host a two-week “Sweet Deal” sale for used books, paperbacks, and more. Paperbacks are 5 cents each, and hardbacks 25 cents. There will also be magazines, music CDs and some VHS tapes. The main sale location is the main library in Ville Platte. Sale will be open in the multipurpose room and at the Friends corner. The multipurpose room portion of the sale will be closed for approximately one hour during scheduled children’s programming in the room.

The “Food for Thought” Book Club and the Library will co-sponsor a special meeting of the club on Tues. March 10th in the multipurpose room of the main library (Ville Platte). Gary Stewart, author of “The Most Dangerous Animal of All: Searching for My Father and Finding the Zodiac Killer” will discuss his book. Space is limited to 60 participants. A sign up sheet is available at the main library. Also please note this is an adult only event: no children will be allowed in the room during the program.
Fran Guillory with Hospice will do an informational presentation in the main library’s multipurpose room on Tues. March 10th at 5:30 p.m. This is an adult only event. Pre-registration is not required.
The Ville Platte Police Department presents “Cops for a Cure” 5K Run/ Walk on Sat. March 21st. The group will form up on the grounds of the main library, with on site registration beginning at 8 a.m. The Run/ Walk starts at 9 a.m. Early registration and T-shirt sales end March 1st!
Registration fee is $25.00 for participants age 13 and up. For those 12 and under, registration is $5.00. T-Shirts are NOT included in the registration. They can be purchased separately until March 1st. All proceeds benefit the Evangeline Parish Relay for Life.

The first meeting of the new “Mystery Book Club” will be held at noon on Thurs. March 26 in the multipurpose room of the Evangeline Parish Main Library. Everybody is invited. We will discuss what we consider a mystery, what types of mysteries we would be interested in reading, and how we will select them.
