The Mystery Book Club meets Wed. Oct. 26th at 10:30 am in the multipurpose room of the main library.  The book of the month is Martha Grimes’ “The Man with a Load of Mischief.”  New members are always welcome!  Come join us!

Join Miss Thelma for a lively session of “Little Folks Fun with Spanish” each Wednesday afternoon from 3:30 to 4:30 pm in the children’s room of the Main Library.

Have questions about your e-reader?  Having trouble connecting to wireless?  Confused by Windows 10? Miss Tina D will do her best to answer your questions each Thursday morning from 9 am to 11:30 am at the main library.  Sorry, we do not repair equipment.

“Lawyers in Libraries” is sponsoring a special event at the main library on Thurs. Oct. 27th from 2 to 4 pm.  Sign up for fifteen minute individual sessions of general advice.  Walk-ins are welcome on a space available basis.

Join Miss Pat, aka “Mother Goose,” for small children’s story time each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm in the children’s room of the Main Library.

A representative of the Coreil Campus of  SLCC will be at the main library Nov. 1st from 4 pm to 6 pm to discuss the upcoming automotive program on the campus.  If you or somebody you know might be interested in enrolling in this program to learn a much in demand skill in a short time, please come by to talk to the Coreil representative.

Basile small children’s story times continue every other Thursday at the Basile Branch Library.

The Evangeline Parish Library Board of Control will hold a public hearing Tues. Nov. 15th at 3:30 pm at the Mamou Branch Library.  The purpose of the hearing is to gather public comment on the current Electronics Resources Policies (Internet Safety Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, and Social Media Policy).  The public is encouraged to attend and comment.  Policies are available for review on this webpage.

The Library Board of Control meeting scheduled for Nov. 15th is being rescheduled for Thursday December 1st at at 4 pm in the Mamou Branch Library.  Everybody is welcome, and public comments are invited.

The Divine Eyes Teen Book Club meets Tuesday Nov. 15th at 6 pm in the multipurpose room of the main library.  New members are welcome: the group is open to all persons ages 13 through 17.  The November book for discussion is “Catch Your Death” by Mark Edwards and Louise Voss.

The Mystery Book Club will have its November meeting on Wed. Nov. 30th at 10:30 am at the main library.  The book for the month is “Sycamore Row” by John Grisham.  Please note that the club will not have a December meeting.  The next meeting for the club after November is on Jan. 25th.

The Library Board meeting that was originally scheduled for Nov. 15th has been rescheduled for Thurs. December 1st at 4 p.m. at the Mamou Branch Library.  This is the meeting to review draft amended budgets for 2016 and review draft budgets for 2017, to be submitted to the Police Jury for inclusion in their budget hearing and budget approval process.  Everybody is welcome.

There will be NO December meeting of the Mystery Book Club.  See you in the new year!

Pre K kids can meet Santa and Mrs. Claus at 10 am this morning at the Basile Branch.  Join Santa for Christmas storytime!

Basile Branch will have its last Pre K program of 2016 on Thurs. Dec. 15th at 10 am.  Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be special guests.

The main library and all branches will be closed for Christmas holidays Thurs. Dec. 22nd through Monday Dec. 26th.

Drop in Tech Help has a new time: Thursdays from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the main library.  The first session of the year will be Thurs. Jan. 5th.

The Friends of the Library will hold their first meeting of 2017 on Tues. Jan. 17th at 4:30 pm at the main library (Ville Platte).  Everybody is welcome.  Please come and bring a friend.

The Evangeline Genealogical and Historical Society will hold its first meeting of 2017 on Saturday morning Jan. 21st at the main library (Ville Platte).  Everybody is welcome.  Guest speaker is Mr. Jim Bradshaw, a well-known Louisiana journalist.  Mr. Bradshaw will speak on “The Many Cultures of South Louisiana.”

Bereavement Support Group is open to all and is free.  No reservations required.  First meeting is 3 to 4 pm Monday Jan. 23rd at the main library.
