The Library Board of Control meeting scheduled for Nov. 15th is being rescheduled for Thursday December 1st at at 4 pm in the Mamou Branch Library. Everybody is welcome, and public comments are invited.
The Divine Eyes Teen Book Club meets Tuesday Nov. 15th at 6 pm in the multipurpose room of the main library. New members are welcome: the group is open to all persons ages 13 through 17. The November book for discussion is “Catch Your Death” by Mark Edwards and Louise Voss.
The Mystery Book Club will have its November meeting on Wed. Nov. 30th at 10:30 am at the main library. The book for the month is “Sycamore Row” by John Grisham. Please note that the club will not have a December meeting. The next meeting for the club after November is on Jan. 25th.
The Library Board meeting that was originally scheduled for Nov. 15th has been rescheduled for Thurs. December 1st at 4 p.m. at the Mamou Branch Library. This is the meeting to review draft amended budgets for 2016 and review draft budgets for 2017, to be submitted to the Police Jury for inclusion in their budget hearing and budget approval process. Everybody is welcome.
“Fine Free” Period is from December 15, 2016, through January 15, 2017. However, since January 15th is a Sunday, the fine free offer will be extended through Tues. Jan. 17th. For more information, call 337-363-1369 or the branch nearest you.
Pre K kids can meet Santa and Mrs. Claus at 10 am this morning at the Basile Branch. Join Santa for Christmas storytime!

Basile Branch will host its first pre K program of 2017 on Thursday Jan. 12th at 10 am. The subject is “manners.” Come join the wonderful staff and volunteers at the Basile Branch for a great time.

The Evangeline Genealogical and Historical Society will hold its first meeting of 2017 on Saturday morning Jan. 21st at the main library (Ville Platte). Everybody is welcome. Guest speaker is Mr. Jim Bradshaw, a well-known Louisiana journalist. Mr. Bradshaw will speak on “The Many Cultures of South Louisiana.”

Basile Branch Pre K program Thurs. Jan. 26 at 10 am. Come enjoy our special Valentine’s program!
The Mamou Branch Library will be closed all day Monday Feb. 27th for Lundi Gras.
Dr. Douglas Ray-Breaux, a native of Jennings who now lives in Houston, will speak at the main library on Saturday March 25th at 10 am. Dr. Breaux is both an MD and a pharmacy doctorate, as well as the author of “The Color of Freedom After the Turbulent 60’s”. His book and presentation offer an inspiring perspective on the development of black cultural heritage. Dr. Breaux’s goal is to inspire and motivate youth to understand history and cultural heritage and achieve great things. Everybody is very welcome to attend Dr. Breaux’s presentation and book signing after the presentation.
The Mystery Book Club meets Wednesday March 29th at 10:30 am at the main library (Ville Platte). The book for the month is “A Quiet Life in the County” by T. E. Kinsey. Everybody is welcome.
