Due to the severe weather projected for our area from mid day to mid afternoon, Chataignier branch of the library will not open.  This branch is normally open from 2 to 5 weekdays.  We expect to be open at the regular time on Wednesday.

The children’s story hour for March 10th at the Basile Branch Library has been cancelled due to weather.

The Evangeline Parish Library Board of Control will meet Tuesday March 22nd at 4 p.m. at the Mamou Branch Library.  The meeting is open to the public, and public attendance and comments are very welcome.  Refreshments will be served.  An agenda for the meeting will be posted at the library no later than Monday March 21st.

Join Miss Pat, aka “Mother Goose” for Tuesday and Thursday afternoon story hours at 3:30 pm in the children’s room at the main library.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Our “Crafty Tuesdays” continue every Tuesday evening at the main library in Ville Platte at 6 p.m.  Join Outreach Coordinator Suzy Lemoine for a fun 90 minutes of crafts and surprises.  The program is open to adults and teens.

Drop in “Tech Help” is available each Thursday morning in the multipurpose room of the main library in Ville Platte from 9:30 am to 11:30 a.m.

The Evangeline Genealogical and Historical Society will meet Saturday April 16 at 9:30 am in the multipurpose room of the main library in Ville Platte.  The public is invited to hear their guest speakers, John Ledoux and Margaret Briley, who will talk about the Orphan Train Museum and share some of the stories about the children who arrived in Evangeline Parish.

The Friends of the Library will meet on Tuesday April 19th at 4:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room of the main library in Ville Platte.  Everybody is very welcome.  Please come and bring a friend!

The book that will be discussed is “Body Double” by Tess Gerritsen.  Everybody is welcome to come join us in the multipurpose room of the main library in Ville Platte.  The meeting was rescheduled due to a conflict with the All-Staff Training Day which will be held the next week.

Join the children’s program at the Basile Branch every other Thursday at 10 a.m.  The program for April 21st is “Caterpillars and Butterflies”!

The Chataignier Branch Library will close at 4:30 pm on Monday May 2nd, one half hour early.  It will reopen at its regular time 2 pm on Tuesday May 3rd.

The children’s program for Thursday morning May 5th at Basile will have a Mother’s Day theme.

The Basile children’s program Thursday morning May 19th is “Planting Seeds.”  This will be the last program of the spring, with Summer Reading beginning June 1st.

The Evangeline Parish Library Board of Control meeting scheduled for Tuesday May 24th has been cancelled.  The next scheduled meeting is Tuesday July 26 at 4 pm at the main library (Ville Platte).

Venessa Lewis, the Louisiana Mermaid, will appear at the main library (Ville Platte) at 10 am on Sat. June 4th.
