A new enrichment opportunity at the main library in Ville Platte hosted by Linda Fontenot, owner of Fundamentally Structured 357 LLC, occurred last Saturday morning for 6 & 7th graders about how to start their own business. The next meetings are set for March 11th for 8th – 11th graders and March 18th for adults. Contact Mrs. Fontenot to learn more about how you can participate. Seating is limited. 337-534-6481. 

Computer Tutor information: We will not host this opportunity in March but will begin a monthly schedule as follows (second Tuesday of each month at each branch around the parish): April 11th, May 9th, June 13th , July 11th, August 8th, September 12th, October 10th, November 14th and December 12, 2023.  


On March 8th @ 4 pm, the main library will host a “Kid’s Painting Event”! Please call Keishia Ford @ 337-363-1369 to reserve your spot.   Also, for the whole month of March at the main library, we are hosting an Easter Reading Contest for the kids. The more books one checks out the more chances they will have to win a cool PRIZE! Drop by the library for details. 

The library recently partnered with Evangeline Community Action to support their once-a-week after school program for youth from grades K – 12. On two Thursdays a month staff members Keishia Ford and Patricia Harris volunteer to offer enrichment programs that are fun and memorable that includes French conversation, crafts, and games! This is a wonderful outreach program for the library and could be a super gratifying volunteer opportunity for anyone who would like to give back to the community and help influence the kids in positive ways. Here are a few weekly free and stimulating programs that occur at the main library and our branches around the parish: on Mondays the Mamou branch library offers a program called Coffee with FriendsVille Platte main library offers a conversational French program called Allons Parler Français every Tuesday at 1 pm and Quilting with Friends is every Thursday @ 1 pm followed by Chess, Scrabble & Puzzles @ 4 pm.  Pine Prairie branch offers “Cajun French” on Fridays @ 9:30 am and puzzle making any day and any time. These programs are free and available to anyone who wishes to join in.  Remember to visit the Facebook page of your branch to see the many good things that are going on throughout the month.      

Save the date! We will host our annual LIBRARY FEST this year on Saturday, May 20, 2023from 9 am to 1 pm on the grounds of the main library in Ville Platte for authors, vendors, civic and social groups who would like to promote their goods! Please share this good news!
