At the Library for June 21st

Happy, happy Father’s Day to all from the Library Board and staff! The main library, Basile, Mamou & Pine Prairie branches WILL BE OPENED TO THE PUBLIC Monday, June 22^nd with 50% walk-in capacity. Chataignier and Turkey Creek branches will open Tuesday, June 23^rd. Note: We highly recommend that you wear your Face mask.Special note: The main library and all branches will resume their regular opening hours, however, all will be closing at 5 pm and there will be NO late Tuesdays at the main library until further notice and no Saturday openings at the main library in Ville Platte until after July 11^th.

 “Welcome Back Goodie Bags” filled with reading incentives to encourage kids of all ages to READ will continue to be given out. The only requirement to receive the “goodie bag” is that at least two books are checked out. Each bag will also have a writing activity that could help them win ONE additional prize if they use the “Imagine Your Story” form to write down their memories of how the COVID 19  pandemic is affecting them and then return it to the library with their name and phone number!

Here are a few new titles that you may want to check out. Also, the adult display of summer reading suggestions at the main library is awesome! Non-Fiction: “Stone Motel – Memories of a Cajun Boy” by Morris Ardoin and “Sacred Ground – The Cemeteries of New Orleans” by Robert S. Brantley. Christian Series: Mark of the Lion – Book 1, “A Voice in the Wind” by Francine Rivers and The Jesus Chronicles “John’s Story, The Last Witness” by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins.  LP Fiction: “All Too Human” by Karen Wills. LP Westerns: “Blood-Soaked Earth” by Michael Farmer. Audio: “Looker” by Laura Sims and“The Dark Corners of the Night” by Meg Gardiner.
