We’d like to extend a “Thank You” to Mr. J.C. Webb of Crowley who took the time to mail an artifact that he came across recently about the first Ville Platte Jaycee Fishing Rodeo & Outboard Boat Races that took place at Chicot State Park on the weekend of July 3-4, 1966! It’s a fine addition to our Vertical Files as it identifies many of the vendors of days gone by such as Starlite Roll-A-Rena, Bruce’s 5 & 10 Cents Store, Lasalle Style Shop, and Evangeline Furniture Company to name a few. It is available at the main library in Ville Platte to anyone who wants to see it in person.
For more information call the main library @ 337-363-1369 or send an email to [email protected] for more information. Visit our main library and branch library Facebook pages or www.evangelinelibrary.org for all of the weekly, monthly and upcoming events and never forget that libraries do change lives…. even in the cloud!
