The Library Board of Control and staff extend very heartfelt and sincere prayers of support to our fellow staff members and all patrons who have been affected by this rampant virus. We are in a strange period and are having to make challenging decisions for the safety of all, but we trust that out patrons understand.

The main library in Ville Platte will remain closed until this Thursday to complete the 10-day quarantine and deep cleaning that helps to protect our patrons. We will try to re-open on Friday, August 27, 2021, however, due to a shortage in staffing, that re-opening could be delayed. The Turkey Creek branch library will remain closed this week for the same reasons. At this point in time, the Basile, Chataignier, Mamou and Pine Prairie branches will remain open for their regular operating hours and MASKS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING WILL BE REQUIRED. These branches have computers, fax machines and countless other resources and entertainment products that a short drive can provide. The WIFI is free and available even after hours around the library buildings. August is a FINE FREE MONTH so no worries about returning your items on time. Remember that we have an incredible number of books, audio books and movies available that can be accessed through Overdrive/Libby and Flipster (magazine link) on a variety of electronic devices. See our webpage for a direct link.

One more unfortunate decision that we recently made was to CANCEL our annual Library Fest which was slated for November 13th. We sure are looking forward to a more promising 2022!

For more information and updates, please call 363-1369, the branch nearest you, or visit our Facebook page or website www.evangelinelibrary.org. Thank you for supporting your library; libraries change lives…. even in the Cloud!
