Easter is right around the corner! The Library Board of Control and staff wish everyone a memorable and safe weekend celebration! Here is an early closure note: The main library and all branches will be closed on Friday, April 7th and 8th. All will reopen on Monday, April 10th.
Check the Facebook page of your favorite library to see what’s going on for Easter! At the main library in Ville Platte you can have a Photo with the Easter Bunny taken then enjoy a Kid’s Painting activity on Wednesday, April 5th at 4 pm.
Our Computer Tutor program resumes on April 11th at the following locations: Ville Platte Main @ 9 am; Turkey Creek Branch @ 10:30 am; Pine Prairie Branch @ 12 noon; Mamou Branch @ 1:30 pm; Basile Branch @ 3 pm and Chataignier Branch @ 4:30 pm
Another new opportunity happening at the main library is our new “Artist of the Month” program. During the month of April we will be displaying the works of Gene “Swabby” Soileau. Swabby is best known lately as a DJ for KVPI but he is also an artist at heart! He started taking lessons with Ms. Gertie Mayeaux in 2009 and hasn’t let up yet! Come by the library to see some of his work on canvas that we proudly display. We want to showcase the many talented artist in our parish and give them visibility and the opportunity to sell their art. We also have on display some of the original artwork of “Billie” Bowen & Clamie Landreneau donated recently by Carol Neil Landreneau. We have so much talent in Evangeline Parish. Drop by soon to see it for yourself!
LIBRARY FEST this year on Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 9 am to 1 pm on the grounds of the main library in Ville Platte. New attraction: the Atchafalaya Petting Zoo will be sponsored by the Friends of the Library! Please share this good news! We still have open spots for craft/art/product vendors and Food Trucks.
