We are so excited to share the unique and diverse line up of our featured authors who you can meet at our annual Library Fest on Saturday, May 20, 2023, from 9 am to 1 pm on the grounds of the main library in Ville Platte! Dr. Elista Istre, Veni Harlan, Kristal Ben, Patricia Williams, C.P. Landry, Michael Wynne, Christopher Fontenot, Edward Gauthier, Debby Lawson, Dixie Poche, Rhonda B. LeJeune, Latonya Leary, Julie Beth Davis, Warren and Mary Perrin, Beverly Fuselier, and Pamela Ardoin Funderburk. Their books or information about their books will be on display next week until the weekend of the Festival and are available for check-out if you would like to get familiar with their work. One new feature this year will be the opportunity to experience the interesting and engaging scholarly presentation of “Evangeline, the Myth and the Maiden” by Dr. Elista Istre in the Multipurpose Room at 10 am. Please don’t miss this opportunity! Before and after her presentation in the Multipurpose Room, Antique Appraiser Michael Wynne will be available to appraise your antiques for $3.00 per item. AND THAT’S A WRAP for our Authors as we do not have any spaces left this year. If you missed the sign-up deadline, please come to the festival anyway and be a part of our 2024 festival! Next week we will feature our Vendors! Keep an eye on our Facebook page for information about all the other wonderful library programs that continue around the parish.
If you have not discovered the new “Little Free Craft Library” located near the front door of the main library in Ville Platte, please drop by with your child or children to pick up crafts that can be worked on at home and shared with family. This opportunity was developed by our staff member, Sandra Veillon, in an effort to keep the spirit of “making art” alive for kids even when the library is closed. It is a compliment to the “Litle Free Book Library” located under the big oak tree that was donated by Cabot Corporation.
Please visit the Facebook page of your favorite library branch to see information about programs unique to them. Also, visit our website www.evangelinelibrary.org for updates. You can always call the main library @ 337-363-1369 or send an email to [email protected] for more information and never forget that libraries do change lives…. even in the cloud! Suzy Lemoine, Outreach Coordinator.
