Thank you to all who were able to attend the 2020 Library Fest! Next year it will be bigger and better!

The Library Board of Control and the staff salute all of our Veterans this Wednesday, November 11th. The main library and all branches will be closed to pay homage to those who fought to defend the freedoms and liberties that we enjoy today!

There are three on-going events that we kicked off at Library Fest that will continue though the month of November: Toys for Tots, Food for Families, and the Evangeline Arts Council “Rocking on Main” fundraiser.  Particulars: The incentive for participating in the Toys for Tots program through the library is the opportunity to have fines that may be on your account waived up to $10 (one waive per account per toy).  The gift must be unwrapped, new and still in the package. Let the clerks at the circulation desk know when you drop off a gift. If you simply want to give from the heart, just drop off a gift at any of the six libraries around the parish. Items donated will be brought to the local police stations for distribution. Also, the libraries around the parish will continue to be a food drop off point for the Food for Families program. Finally, the last November program is the Evangeline Arts Council “Rocking on Main” fundraiser. A beautiful donated rocker that was hand painted by artist Stephen Hawkins will be on display in the multipurpose room at the main library in Ville Platte for folks to view and bid on if they so desire. The other four rockers will be on display in business around the parish. See the Evangeline Arts Council Facebook page for locations.

Monday, November 9th, the French Table in Ville Platte will meet at 3pm to chat and share stories in French. The public is welcomed to attend.

Tuesday, November 10th, the French Table in Basile will meet at 9 am to chat and share stories in French. The public is welcomed to attend.

Thursday, November 12th, the Books & Beyond Teen Club will gather to make Wind Chimes or unique bowls from 4-5 pm. New members are always welcomed to attend.

The staff genuinely appreciates the never-ending understanding, patience and support it continues to receive from all patrons! Please get updates at evangelinelibrary.org or on our Facebook page and continue to request books and other materials by phone or by email at [email protected].  Never forget that libraries do change lives… even through the Cloud! Main library: 337-363-1369.
