The main library and all branches will be closed Thursday, Aug. 30th due to Isaac.

KATC has posted that Evangeline Parish Schools are closed tomorrow, Wed. Aug. 29th.  Our policy calls for closure of the library system when the parish schools are closed for weather conditions.  Therefore, we will also be closed tomorrow.

The Evangeline Parish Library system will close at 3 pm today Tuesday Aug. 28th due to the approach of Tropical Storm Isaac.  Please listen to KVPI for updates on library hours for the rest of the week, and possible closures.

The Chataignier Branch Library, which normally opens at 2 pm, will NOT open today.

If the Evangeline Parish School system is closed, then the Evangeline Parish Library (main library) and all five branch libraries (Mamou, Basile, Pine Prairie, Chataignier, and Turkey Creek) will also be closed.

At this point we are watching the weather reports and planning to open all facilities tomorrow EXCEPT Chataignier, which will be closed.  The other facilities will likely close early tomorrow, due to the approaching storm system.  The current expected early closure time is noon, but this could be subject to change.

At this point we expect the libaries to remain closed on Wednesday.  We do not know yet about Thursday.  Again, if the school system is closed, we will be closed also.

The Library is starting emergency preparations, just in case.  One or more branches may be temporarily closed later in the week, if road or other conditions require it.  Any delayed openings/early closures, etc. will be announced on KVPI and if possible on this webpage.

So far the main library and all branches are operating on their regular schedule, except there will be NO Tuesday late hours this week (applies to Ville Platte branch/headquarters).
