The Evangeline Genealogical and Historical Society will meet Sat. Oct. 20 at 9:30 a.m. at the main library. Researcher William Thibodeaux will speak on the Ezube Vidrine murders and execution. Everybody is welcome.
The Library Board of Control approved revised Electronic Resources Policies (Internet Safety, Acceptable Use, Social Media) and a revised Patron Behavior Policy. The Board also approved a separate Unattended Children’s Policy and a Sex Offenders in Library Policy (dealing with sex offenders whose victims were under age 13). Congratulations to Jennifer Vidrine, Mayor of Ville Platte and Vice President of the Library Board of Control! Jennifer is a delegate at the Democratic National Convention.
A public hearing will be held on Wed. Sept. 19 from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the main library (242 W. Main St., Ville Platte). Public input is strongly encouraged. The hearing is to elicit public review and comments on draft Internet Safety and Social Media policies and on a draft Sexual Offenders in Public Library Facilities policy.
