The library and library board of control mourn the death of former library board member Mr. Donald Miley, who passed away on the night of April 14th at his home in Pine Prairie. Mr. Miley had retired several years ago from the board due to ill health. He had been the longest-serving member of the board and was involved in many special projects, including the building and later expansion of the Pine Prairie library, the building of the Turkey Creek library, renovation of the Mamou and Basile libraries, and the purchase of land for the new main library in Ville Platte. He will be greatly missed.
The membership drive continues and we’d love for you to join this year! Among other items on the agenda, the Friends will take a photo around the newly erected bronze statue in the courtyard that was donated by Phillip and Bonnie Hollier.
The Mystery Book Club will meet on Wednesday, April 20th @ 10:30 am to discuss their March Choice, Body Double by Tess Gerritsen.
The public is invited to hear their guest speakers, John Ledoux and Margaret Briley, who will talk about the Orphan Train Museum and share some of the stories about the children who arrived in Evangeline Parish.
