September is “library card sign-up” month. For the children, we have fun “new member” bags and their first card is FREE when they sign up with a parent. For anyone older than 18 who are getting a library card for the first time, it too is free with a Driver’s license or proof of current address. Details are posted on our website under “policies & procedures”. Replacement cards for all ages are $3.
Note: Our Fine Free period ends September 30th, so please look around and return any books or library items that may now be overdue. We will continue to provide Take & Make Craft Bags at the main library for our Books & beyond teens for the rest of the year. At this point in time, all programming is still not being allowed at the main library or the branches but we are hoping that changes in the next month or so if the COVID numbers come down!
Our Mamou branch library will now host the traveling exhibit about an endangered species: Whooping Cranes! Once thriving, whooping cranes are now the rarest species of crane and North America’s most endangered native bird. This traveling exhibit is made possible with generous donors like Chevron, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF), and Audubon Nature Institute. Come by the Mamou branch library during their regular hours and check out this unique exhibit. MASK WILL CONTINUE TO BE REQUIRED anytime anyone is inside of the main library or any library branch.
Our Chataignier branch is operating with new hours five days a week now: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8 – 5 pm and on Wednesdays from 10 – 5 pm.
