Whooping Cranes! Once thriving, whooping cranes are now the rarest species of crane and North America’s most endangered native bird. This traveling exhibit is made possible with generous donors like Chevron, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF), and Audubon Nature Institute. Our MAMOU branch library will now host the traveling exhibit about an endangered species. Come by the Mamou branch library during their regular hours and check out this unique exhibit.  MASK WILL CONTINUE TO BE REQUIRED anytime anyone is inside the main library or any library branch.

Our Pine Prairie branch has been creating the most incredible and colorful “community puzzles” for a while now.  I’d like to recommend a visit to see their current “puzzles in the works” and peruse their scrap book! It really is tribute to what libraries offer the community beyond the realm of books!! Branch Manager, Angie Henry, is doing a super job!

Ville Platte Main library staff member Keisha Ford has a “virtual story” reading that is now available on our Facebook page! Check it out, like it, share it, so that many may enjoy this new mode of communication and storytelling!

We will continue to provide Take & Make Craft Bags at the main library for our Books & beyond teens for the rest of the year.  At this point in time, all programming is still not being allowed at the main library or the branches, but we are hoping that changes in the next month or so if the COVID numbers come down!

Our Chataignier branch is operating with new hours five days a week now: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8 – 5 pm and on Wednesdays from 10 – 5 pm.

The State Library has published a flyer that is now available at our libraries that remind our patrons about the FREE resources available through our website – www.evangelinelibrary.org.  I will highlight one of many resources over the next few weeks to help you learn how they can enrich your life. The first is Homework Louisiana powered by tutor.com is a free live, online individual tutoring option for homework assistance, test prep (ACT, SAT & AP exams) and more in core academic subjects including math, science, social studies and English.
