The Evangeline Parish main library in Ville Platte will host its annual BOOKFEST on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 10 am until 2 pm on the grounds of the main library! Social distancing and mask wearing will be included in the planning. We are reaching out to authors, cooks, craft/product vendors and non-profit groups to make this event an opportunity for our parish patrons to share their talents! Unfortunately, the Friends of the Library will NOT be offering their usual used book sales because we gave all our inventory away during the recent COVID 19 period. To hold your spot for the festival, a Participation Form is required. Please pick up your form at any library branch around the parish. This festival is free for the public and vendors will not be charged a fee to sell or promote their products. I am delighted to share that we will have three grant-funded performers who will delight kids and adults alike: Storyteller Sylvia Davis, Magician Mitch Richard and Musician/Storyteller Brian Sivils. Additionally, we have invited the awesome antique appraiser, Michael Wynn, to join us again! Also, KVPI will be live from 10 am – noon! Keep an eye out for updates.
Next bit of good news is that all the meeting rooms at the main library will be opened again but with limited occupancy and a requirement of wearing masks. So, in our multipurpose room the following groups can begin to meet again! The French Table group meets on Mondays @ 3pm; the Quilters meet on Thursdays at 1 pm; the Crochet group meets on Wednesdays at 4 pm; the Mystery Book Club meets the last Wednesday of the month at 10:30 am and the Evangeline Genealogical & Historical Society meets on a Saturday morning of their choice @ 9:30 am. We are so happy to be able to invite these groups back to the way it was before COVID!
The Pine Prairie branch library will begin offering BINGO to its patrons on the last Wednesday of each month. Contact the new manager, Angie Henry, for more information at
The staff genuinely appreciates the never-ending understanding, patience and support it continues to receive from all patrons! Please get updates at evangelinelibrary.org or on our Facebook page and continue to request books and other materials by phone or by email at email@example.com. Never forget that libraries do change lives… even through the Cloud! Main library: 337-363-1369
